You’re most likely just an average golfer. So are we. Out Of Bounds Golf was created to help the average player get their questions answered, whether that’s what golf ball they should be using or how far the average person drives the ball.
We all know how far they hit the ball on TV. We all know what balls and clubs the professionals are using. What we might not know is whether or not those are the best options for us. In most cases, it’s not.
Our goal is to find the questions average hackers are asking, do the research ourselves, and provide an in-depth answer or solution. There really aren’t too many good resources out there.
Too many websites just summarize what’s already available online. They say the exact same thing that’s on the manufacturer’s websites and use the same pictures. That’s great and all, but how about we actually do the testing and find the true answer?
Let’s take two balls to the course and see how they compare when an average player hits them. Mechanical arms and launch monitors might not tell the whole story. That’s what we try and do.
The History Of Out Of Bounds Golf
The Out Of Bounds Golf website was started in 2018 by Jon Webber, and not long after that came the YouTube channel. We’re just average golfers who love playing the game and enjoy researching as much as we can about golf to improve our game.
The term “out of bounds” golf comes from the fact that we all spend more time than we’d like searching for the ball we just hit into the bushes. If you’re a mid to high handicapper, we’ll have something for you.
The main two goals of Out Of Bounds Golf are to:
- Play the top courses around the world and document it
- Experiment with the latest and greatest golf gear to find what really works
How We Do Research
We put out various types of content on this site. Some articles are product-focused and others are information-focused. Both require a good amount of research.
Information-based articles simply answer questions people have related to golf. It could be “What is a pitching wedge?” or “What’s the best golf ball for me?“
What we try and do is find the most accurate answer. We’ll go to the course with 10 different golf balls and see how they differ. Which one goes the farthest? Which one is the straightest?
For product reviews, we bring the product to the course and see how it performs. For product comparisons, we see how they compare to each other and try to find which is right for you. You can see more about how we test products here.
How We Make Money
We make money in two ways, through advertisements shown in our articles and from recommending products that we like or use ourselves.
In our product reviews or “best of” articles, we’ll include links to go and purchase the product. If you click on one of those links and make a purchase, we’ll receive a small commission (at no cost to you).
This has no impact on what products we recommend. If it’s a bad product we won’t recommend it. If we like a product and think it’ll be a good fit for you then we will. You can read more about this in our affiliate disclaimer section below.
Our Discount Codes
Every now and then, companies will reach out to us and offer a discount code for the OBG readers. We only ever recommend products we’d use ourselves, so if you’re in the market for something new, be sure to check to see if we have a coupon code.
Here are all the current discount codes we have.
Our Gear Giveaway
OBG would be nothing without the people reading our articles and viewing our videos. As a thank you, we wanted to offer a gear giveaway and give people the chance to win some awesome golf stuff.
We’ve decided that we’d do a giveaway a few times per year. For more details, you can check out our gear giveaway page.
Affiliate Earnings Disclosure
We do our best to stay up to date with what’s going on in the golf world and the products companies are coming out with. At times, we do link to different products that we like and recommend.
Out Of Bounds Golf participates in affiliate programs such as the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. These programs let websites like ours earn compensation by linking to Amazon.com and other retailers.
When you click on one of these links and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. This helps support the website and allows us to make the best content we can.
Our goal is to provide resources that are objective and trustworthy. We want to recommend products that we believe will be of benefit to our readers, not what will make us the most money.
If you have experience with one of the products we recommend, either good or bad, please reach out and let us know. We always appreciate feedback from others because it helps us improve our content. Plus, we can reach out to the companies and suggest improvements.
Lastly, I hope we’re able to answer whatever questions you have about golf. We do our best to put out the most helpful resources that we can. If you have any questions or concerns about anything, feel free to reach out to us through our Contact Us page.
